BARRYMOOR DORIAN

Dorian is a pure breed Dun Highland pony 14hh. Registered with the following breed societies :Australian Pony Stud Book Society Inc, Highland Pony Society, Scottish Highland Pony Society and the National Buckskin Society.

Dorian is the most successful competition Highland Pony stallion in Australia. He is by the well known sire Barrymoor Grand Final out of Taranganba Donia. Both sides of the pedigree originate from imported Highland ponies to Australia, including Glenearn Brigadier and Trooper McPherson.

His showing career has spanned over 13 years with numerous wins at Royal and Agricultural shows. He has also competed successfully at Dressage and showjumping. He has now been retired to stud where he is producing some lovely coloured foals with his very quiet, placid temperament and great rideability.

Some of his career highlights include:

  • Champion Highland Pony Royal Melbourne Show: since inception in 1988 to 2000.
  • Supreme Champion Highland Pony Victorian Stud Pony Show: 1987 to 1991, 1994, 1996 to 2000.
  • National Buckskin Society Highpoint Ridden Stallion: 1991/92, 1994 to 1997, 1999/00.
  • National Buckskin Society Highpoint Led Stallion: 1994 to 1997 and Reserve in 1999/00.
  • Supreme Ridden Buckskin 1995 State Championships.
  • Placed at the Victorian Dressage Championships 1998 and 1999.

Mac has sired several foals to date including Barrymoor MacDonnell who is standing at stud in Western Australia and also Barrymoor McGregor standing at stud in Queensland also the successful mare Harkaway Lodge Symphony who was Champion Highland Mare at the Victorian Stud Pony Show 2002.

He has been shown lightly with a win at the 2002 Victorian Stud Pony Show and Champion Highland Stallion.

Carlyle is a strong upstanding colt, one of only two stallions we have kept in all the years of breeding from the champion sire Barrymoor Dorian. He is to be used by us as a as a future stallion to keep on the lines of his sire.

I hope to break in Carl this Autumn and ride under saddle before we stand him at stud.
