Cinnamon Lass and her new owner BronwynPONY NEWS

Some exciting news from Bronwyn McNamara, that Cinnamon Lass is officially broken in! She is going really well under saddle and Bronwyn says she has learnt a great deal about handling young horses. Her spring coat is well on its way and her condition is good. She looks more muscular and is already thickening up with the regular work. She picks up on new things so quickly during her breaking process. I ride six days a week, but only for a short time. The breaker rode her out on the road, but I will ride at home for a while so we get to know each other well.

APSB VICTORIAN STUD PONY SHOW 2005

Thankfully this year the weather was milder and pleasant for showing compared to some of the previous stud show weekends in the past. A small but dedicated group of Highland enthusiasts camped for the three-day weekend. Both Julia and myself took together eleven ponies of which three were Fjord horses. We managed to get them all there on the Friday with several trips back and forth to the Geelong showgrounds, with the help of two fantastic husbands, Rick and Rod also Travice. Nicki and Jessica Renden were also there and on the Sunday Jan Gallagher and Melanie MacGlauchlen.

Saturday was a very busy day with classes for all but one pony. This year the APSB put on their Foal Futurity as well as both yearling and three year old Sweepstakes. Julia had entries in the Sweepstakes and the foal futurity and I had two entries in the futurity. The saddle classes were spread out over the day.

Croftcnoc Chloe was the most successful also Benacre Gleneagles performed very well with lots of places. Both ponies did very well in the show hunters, led and ridden, with the English judge Kerry Wainwright also the Adults ponies and mixed Mountain and Moorland classes.

The Saturday night program and entertainment was well supported. A DJ and two-course meal were provided and fun had by all. The Victorian branch runs a achievement pony award each year, with ponies nominated by their owners with their show and other performances I entered Croftcnoc Chloe and this year she was the winner of the Mountain and Moorland pony breed section. I was presented with a sash and plaque.

The breed classes were held on the Sunday, with the Highland classes just after the lunch break. As we were the only exhibiters the judge let us get all the classes over fairly quickly, by running like a normal show, one after the other, to avoid the clash in the Mountain and Moorland gelding ring, of which there were, three Highlands entered. We had ponies in each class except the adult stallion class.

VICTORIAN HIGHLAND PONY CHAMPIONSHIPS DECEMBER 19TH 2004

The show was successfully held with 44 entries. For full Results Click Here. For photos taken by Sandy Morphett click here

The day was a huge success and a big thank you must go to those who helped make the day go ahead and to the volunteers on the day, the judges and stewards, and to the generous support from our sponsors.

We had several competitors who did a great job showing their ponies. As the show was held at Croftcnoc Stud we displayed all but a couple of ponies including mares and foals.

The classes were judged by Mr Scott McGregor all the way from Ballington in Scotland and co-judged by Ms Rebecca Holland from Cranbourne Vic.

We were delighted when Barrymoor Dorian, at the age of nineteen years, won the Supreme Champion award. He also won the stallion class and the Champion Stallion. The saddle classes were judged by Rebecca Holland and Croftcnoc Chloe was awarded the Reserve Champion ridden pony with Julia Grave on board. Overall Scott was impressed with the quality of the ponies, especially the championship winners.

APOB YOUNGSTOCK SHOW DECEMBER 27TH 2004
This was another youngstock show which gives the ponies a chance to see the show scene. We took Croftcnoc Celine and Croftcnoc Argyle along to this competition. Our judge in ring one was Mr Scott McGregor who was out in Australia over the Xmas break. Celine won her class in the filly two years. Argyle won the male yearling class and was awarded Champion male Mountain and Moorland.

In the second ring Argyle was again given 1st and Champion and Celine won her class and was the Champion filly. Not a bad result!

APSB GIPPSLAND GROUP YOUNGSTOCK SHOW DECEMBER 2004.
We took along two young ponies to this competition. Croftcnoc Campbell and Croftcnoc Celine, both two year olds, and both achieving good results in the Mountain and Moorland section.
