This Event keeps on getting better. In the same location at and around the Christian Brothers Oval as last year it has settled in nicely into its surroundings. The venue caters very nicely for the spectators, and even nicer for the sponsors, with some lovely VIP seating and viewing areas. But the sponsors do deserve this as it is they who make this all possible after all. This year again Mitsubishi Motors, Adelaide City Council, Malaysia Airlines, RM Williams and a host of others supported this event.
Entry again was free to the grounds for the various phases, but better seating was available for the Dressage and the Showjumping if you paid for seats in the Temporary Grandstands, which were built for the occasion. Cross country day again proved most popular and the weather was kind. If you got bored with the action, there is always the Trade Fair (BYO Credit Card) or the various food and drink vendors.
One big change this year was that the competition this year was run in the same format as the Olympic Games in Athens and the World Championships in 2006 in Aachen (Germany) will be. This means that there are no Roads & Tracks or Steeplechase phases. This allowed the early part of the Cross Country to run through the middle of the racecourse.
There are various pictures of the all the phases of the event below the results. Click on the pictures in the Gallery for enlargements. Plus I have pictures of all the Jumps from the Four star if you click here, may take a couple of seconds to load.
This is one of only Four CCI**** Fourstar Events in the World. And it is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Well worthwhile the trip to Adelaide, which is a great destination in its own right.
The event itself Dressage on the Friday, Cross-country on Saturday plus the Showjumping on the Sunday. As mentioned previously while the format has been changed the cross-country is still about 6.5 kilometers long and the difficulty of the jumps is well deserving of its four star status. The best performance for the event must go the Shane Rose who managed to win the CCI**** as well as place 4th.

If all of that is not enough to entice you to visit then the other two thirds of the action is the CCI** and the CIC**, which take place at the same time.
