The Adelaide International CCI**** Horse Trials in 2003 in my Opinion was a wonderful event. In fact in my Opinion the best event so far, Having been to all but one. There are various pictures of the all the phases of the event if you click here. Click on the pictures in the Gallery for enlargements. Plus I have pictures of all the Jumps from the Four star if you click here, may take a minute to load. In 2003 the Venue had moved to the Christian Brothers Oval within the Adelaide Parklands for the Dressage and the Show Jumping, where entry was free. But if you wanted a better view, the best option was to pay for seats in the Temporary Grandstands which were built for the occasion.
Most popular of course was the Cross Country day, where the only reserved seating was that for the Corporate Sponsors like Mitsubishi Motors, Adelaide City and RM Williams. Without Sponsors like that this World Class Event could not occur. But then again, without support of the public this event would also not happen.
This year again the Majority of the action will again be based at the Christian Brothers Oval along with the Trade Fair (BYO Credit Card). One big change will be that the competition this year will be run in the same format as the Olympic Games in Athens and the World Championships in 2006 in Aachen (Germany). This means that there are no Roads & Tracks or Steeplechase phases. This will allow the early part of the Cross Country to run through the middle of the racecourse.
This is one of only Four CCI**** Fourstar Events in the World. And it is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Well worthwhile the trip to Adelaide, which is a great destination in its own right.
