International 2009 Horse Trials
Olympic gold medallists Wendy Schaeffer and Stuart Tinney will battled it out against some of the biggest names in the equestrian world including silver medallists Shane Rose, Megan Jones and Sonja Johnson and defending champion in the Olympic level four star class, Christopher Burton, at the event. More than 110 riders entered the event, up from 80 riders who competed last year.
Stuart Tinney riding Vettori ended up winning the Australian International 3-Day Event in a tight finish with less than one time penalty separating from second place getter Megan Jones who took out second and third positions on Kirby Park Allofasudden and Kirby Park Irish Jester. The Australian team has emerged victorious against New Zealand in the Trans Tasman competition.

Highlights of the world-class equestrian event, held in Adelaide’s Parklands from November 13 to 15, will be screened by Channel 7 to a national audience on a weekend, day-time timeslot in January with the possibility of further exposure later next year. “This is the first time the event has been screened on a national, commercial television station and we are thrilled that Channel 7 has recognised the importance and popularity of equestrian events in this country, committing to covering this important event,” Event Director and Olympic medallist Gillian Rolton says.
“In 2009, spectators had the added bonus of witnessing some of the Southern Hemisphere’s best equestrian athletes as the 2009 Australian
International 3 Day Event played host to New Zealand’s finest horse and rider combinations competing against the Aussies for the hotly contested Trans Tasman Championship.” For More Details click here
