International 2011 3 Day Event
FEI WELCOMES ADELAIDE TO HSBC FEI CLASSICS 2012 SEASON
The Adelaide-based event, which in 2002 became the first CCI 4* in the southern hemisphere, will host the second leg of the HSBC FEI Classics 2012 season against the
stunning city centre backdrop of Adelaide Park Lands on 18-20 November 2011.
“The Australian International 3 Day Event is the country’s premier equestrian competition and one of only six 4* events held around the world,” explained Event Director and dual Olympic gold medallist Gillian Rolton (AUS). “For the last 10 years, Adelaide has been the chosen host city of this hallmark equestrian event. We are now extremely proud to take our place in the HSBC FEI Classics2012 season and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors and competitors to an action-packed event in our unique City of Adelaide Parkland setting.”
The Adelaide Cross-Country phase on Saturday 19 November will see competitors tackling a demanding course designed by Wayne Copping (AUS). It will start in front of the Heritage Grandstand in Victoria Park, cross two dual carriageways closed for the event, wind through Rymill Park featuring water jumps regarded as some of the most challenging in international Eventing and culminate back in Victoria Park on the Heritage Oval.
HSBC has supported the HSBC FEI Classics series since 2008 and will be contributing US$1 million in prize money over the next three years, which represents the biggest prize fund on offer in Eventing on an annual basis.
At the end of the 2012 season, the five riders with the highest number of points collected among the six HSBC FEI Classics events will be awarded their share of a total prize pot of US$333,000.
“The inclusion of this event in the HSBC FEI Classics is testament to how successful the series has been and shows how this sport continues to grow globally. We are delighted to welcome Adelaide as part of the prestigious series and look forward to seeing the competition evolve,” said Giles Morgan, HSBC Group Head of Sponsorship.

Horse Talk TV partners with iStream TV
The award-winning Horse Talk TV has made significant inroads around the world and its exposure is widening all the time. Over 20 million people watched this series in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Europe.
According to producer Katie Hickson “One of the most exciting things which has happened is we’re now partnered with an Australian IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) company iStreamTV – a new web-streaming portal.
“This is being launched late October this year,” said Katie. “I’ve licensed two channels – a dedicated equestrian one, the Horse Talk TV Channel – which will run our series plus other horse content such as documentaries and sports events, and the other is the Animal Life Channel.
“For a limited time iStreamTV has released a free downloadable app for PCs (phone apps will be released in a couple of months). I encourage people to go to www.istreamtv.com.au and take advantage of this offer.”
A release of “The Best of Horse Talk TV Series 1 and 2” will launch on the Horse Talk’s iStream channel from late October. These ‘best of’ episodes will also be screened on Foxtel’s AURORA (Channel 183) and regionally on AUSTAR from October 27 to December 15 at 7pm on Thursday nights.
Katie’s new Series Three will air nationally in March next year. Stories will include ”Hendra Virus - fact and fiction”; “Ride 4 a Cure” - the journey of 20-year-old Esther Luxford-Matthews who rode her three horses across four Australian states raising funds for and awareness of melanoma in young people; “Agility – it’s not just for dogs”; “Barefoot horseracing” with trainer Royston Carr; Dr Rebecca Gimenez conducting Large Animal Rescue courses; “Dressage – sport or art?” - presenting Philippe Karl and his ‘classical versus classique’ training methods including an interview with award-winning actor, Colin Friels, who has some controversial opinions regarding the present state of competitive dressage. And lots, lots more.
